About Us

ABATE stands for Amercian Bikers Aimed Toward Education

ABATE is NOT a club. We are a member based volunteer corporation. ABATE is a not-for-profit volunteer organization dedicated to the rights of the motorcyclng community. We watch for motorcycle friendly and unfriendly legislation to support or oppose. We invite all motorcycle riders to join ABATE; our members ride many different brands and models of motorcycles. We encourage our members to be informed registered voters and to get involved. We are not a national organization though we sometimes share information with other states. We have ABATE chapters across NY State and form new ones when we can. We work with the Motorcycle Rights Foundation on federal legislation involving motorcycle issues. We educate our membership on safety issues, Insurance & Traffic Law and riding skills. We work at bettering the image of the motorcyling community through various fund raisers for local and national charities. We encourage our members to take the NYS rider training course to improve their riding ability and learn to avoid accidents. We acknowledge the fact that there are untrained and unlicensed people riding motorcycles and driving beyond their ability. We can only encourage them to get a motorcycle endorsement and take a riders course. We remind the public to look for motorcycles while they are driving; too many motorcyclists are injured or killed by inattentive drivers.

ABATE of Greene County holds meetings usually on the second Sunday of each month. They are held at Blackthorne Resort - 348 Sunside Road - East Durham, NY 12423 @ 3:30PM.

The next ABATE Regional Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, April 15th @ 1PM.
